On June 30, 2020, I received a letter from a hospital in Chicago regarding work that I did with a client to correct a medical billing error by the hospital.
The hospital in Chicago finally admitted that it had made mistakes in billing our client for amounts of money that were already paid to the hospital by the client’s Medicare supplement insurance company. My work saved the client $859.42.
It was frustrating that for weeks I had been advising the hospital in detailed letters that it already got paid by our client’s insurance company. Our client was being badgered to pay bills that were already paid by the insurance company.
Part of the letter from the hospital reads as follows:
Again, we apologize for the delay and for not being able to get this corrected sooner as our records do indicate that the patient attempted to get this situation rectified and received unnecessary bills.
The Medicare system is not perfect. The people who designed it and the people who run it are not perfect either. Mistakes and problems happen in the Medicare system every day. That is why every senior citizen on Medicare should have a local insurance agent to help select Medicare related insurance and help the client to correct errors that could cost the senior citizen money.
Our insurance agency is proud of the reputation that we have earned for “going the extra mile” to help our clients when a Medicare problem threatens to cost them money. If your insurance agent or agency is not willing or able to “go the extra mile” to help you, why not switch to an agency that will help you. Our agency helps our clients ALL THE TIME.
