On June 5, 2019, a client from Cedar Lake visited my office to get help with a medical bill for $2,709.45.
I have helped this client on previous occasions. He learned a few things from observing me as I work. He suspected that the bill was caused by a claims coding error. I suspected the same thing.
We phoned Medicare together to get the details on why Medicare denied the claim which resulted in the big bill for our client. Our suspicions were confirmed.
The only reason Medicare denied the claim was because it was marked and coded as a routine procedure. It was NOT marked and coded correctly as a medically necessary or preventative procedure. The cause of the bill to our client for $2,709.45 was entirely the fault of the laboratory that misfiled the claim.
So, I wrote a letter to the laboratory, informed them that the problem was caused by their personnel, and told them to refile the claim correctly. Doing that will save our client almost $3,000.
All the help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This agency is proud of our reputation for high level customer service.
