On January 14, 2019, I helped a surviving spouse from the Miller Beach area of Gary, Indiana. He was dealing with medical bills regarding his late wife.
All the bills were from one hospital in Chicago and a collection law firm that the hospital had hired for one of the older bills. With the widower in my office, I made phone calls to check on what happened that caused the medical bill problems.
One of the bills had been paid by the patient’s Medicare supplement insurance company but was not credited to the account of the patient yet. All the other claims never were sent to the insurance company by Medicare.
The patient did not cause this problem. The surviving spouse did not cause this problem. Medicare caused this problem.
To help the widower to fix the bill problems, I wrote a detailed letter to the hospital about all the claims. I asked them to recall the older bill from the collection law firm and to send all the essential information about all the unpaid claims directly to the client’s Medicare supplement insurance company. If that is done, I am confident that the bills will be paid.
All the help that I gave the widower from Gary was FREE OF CHARGE. Our agency helps our senior citizen clients with such problems at no charge to prove that we really do care about our senior citizen clients. This policy has helped our reputation and our business very much.
